Student Identity Verification SOPs

Student Identity Verification SOPs

1. Admission and Onboarding

At the time of admission, the institution must establish the student's true identity.

  • Government ID Check: Students must submit a government-issued photo ID (e.g., National Identity Card/CNIC, Passport).
  • Biometric Authentication: Utilize automated identity verification platforms (e.g., Shufti Pro or Persona) to perform liveness detection and match a live user-submitted selfie against their government ID.
  • Enrolment Validation: Authenticate submitted admission forms, educational transcripts, and fee payment receipts against institutional records.

2. Digital Platform Access

Throughout the semester, the identity of the student accessing the ODL Learning Management System (LMS) must be continuously validated.

  • Secure Login: Assign unique credentials to each student, combining a secure username with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Email Verification: Provide an official university email domain for secure access to the student portal.
  • Device Binding: Restrict access to a limited number of recognized devices to prevent account sharing.

3. Assessments and Examinations

Examinations are the highest-risk area in ODL and require the strictest controls.

  • AI Proctoring: Utilize AI-enabled remote proctoring software during online exams. This includes continuous webcam monitoring, automated face recognition, and desktop locking.
  • Live Human Proctoring: Assign human invigilators to observe students via webcam for the duration of the exam.
  • Physical/Hybrid Proctored Centers: Require students to appear in person at designated regional testing centers to physically verify their ID before taking high-stakes written or practical exams.
